Can I benefit from counseling?

Nearly every person can benefit from counseling at pivotal points in their life. Signs you may need individual therapy include:

  • Feeling overwhelmed, not recognizable to yourself, unable to manage daily routines

  • Experiencing intense emotions that are difficult to manage and/or interfere with daily life Struggling with depression, anxiety, or PTSD

  • Experiencing relationship issues that repeat abusive patterns or co-dependency

  • Struggling with personal loss or inability to cope with a traumatic event

What are your rates, and do you accept insurance?

I am an in-network provider for a number of insurance companies. While insurance can lower the cost of services, there are certain advantages to self-pay. Most importantly, self-pay prevents insurance from dictating parts of the process: how often you are allowed to attend therapy, how long the treatment can last, and what you focus on during the therapy hour. All services are offered at self-pay rates.

Insurance companies require that I provide a mental health diagnosis that remains in the client's medical record. Not participating with insurance allows me to maintain privacy and flexibility in the therapy process. I understand that accessibility is an important factor when seeking services. Therefore, I am an in-network provider with some insurance carriers. Please reach out to me to discuss options. I am able to provide each client an invoice to be submitted to private insurance companies for reimbursement. My clients have had great success with reimbursement from their insurance companies.

What can I expect during an individual counseling session?

During your first session, I will assess your current situation and examine relevant historical information to help determine the cause for seeking therapy as well as your goals for the process. Additionally, it is important to establish your level of comfort in sharing personal information throughout the course of therapy. While initially this process may feel intrusive or uncomfortable, providing such information is an integral part of the therapy process, allowing me to better understand the appropriate course of treatment to achieve your goals and maximize positive outcomes.

Once your individual needs are understood, I will explain how treatment will be helpful and work with you and other professionals (if needed) collaboratively to establish the best treatment plan. I will focus on your specific symptoms and issues to determine whether we are making positive improvements. Additionally, we will review events that have occurred between sessions, focusing on any events or triggers that have contributed to distress, developing strategies to more effectively address or prevent them in the future.

Can I be assured that counseling sessions will remain private and discreet?

A Licensed Psychotherapist is required to maintain the privacy of their clients. This means all information shared during our sessions will not and cannot be shared with other individuals, including family members, medical professionals, or colleagues, unless a disclosure form is signed by the client to share information with designated persons.
